Sheridan did not see a 100% total eclipse in the summer of 2017 - but we were in line for a 96% one! And Trail End was a safe place from which to witness it.

On Monday, August 21 from 10:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., sixty or so people joined staff on the lawn of the Trail End State Historic Site to watch this once-in-a-lifetime event. From comfortable lawn chairs and blankets, they relaxed while the sun and moon did their celestial dance in the skies above. Maximum coverage took place at about 11:42 a.m.

Even without totality, the 2017 eclipse was a truly stellar event!
